Our Staff at the Mapua Auto Centre

Peter Satherley: Peter is a co-owner of Mapua Auto Centre and workshop manager. Peter is a born and breed local lad. Peter is a father of three and enjoys fishing, motor sport and vehicle restoration in his spare time. Peter started as an automotive technician apprentice under Lionel Perry in1974 and gained his full qualifications in 1978. Peter (along with Marion) went into business in1987 doing panel and paint repairs, and with a bit of diversification over the years, has built up Mapua Auto Centre to what it is today.

Marion Satherley: Marion is co-owner of Mapua Auto Centre and administration manager. Marion worked for 15yrs in the Banking Industry and as a part-time administration assistant for Honk and Pat Perry. Marion is a mother of three, who in her spare time enjoys being involved in the community (when time allows), playing and watching netball, camping, tramping, gardening and relaxing.

Julie Hay: Julie joined Mapua Auto Centre in 2001 as an administration assistant. Julie is part-time, working four days a week. Julie was born and bred on the West Coast, she saw the light when she left school and moved to Nelson to find work. Julie has three children and is married to Graham. Julie had had varied work experience over the years and is not afraid to turn her hand to anything.

Peter Dunn: Or Pete as we call him, is a born and breed local lad. Pete joined our team in Sept 2003 as a fully qualified automotive technician, and works three days a week. Pete is an avid golfer and spends much of his spare time at the Tasman Golf Club. Pete started his automotive apprenticeship in 1981 under Honk Perry and gained his full qualifications in 1984.

In 1994 he spend a year on the Isle of Luing (Scotland) doing farm maintenance, followed by four years in Botswana as the Technical Operations Manager, responsible for bore hole test pump equipment. Back in NZ he has worked in the heavy vehicles as well as light vehicle industries before joining us.

Daryl Hall: Daryl joined our team in Dec 2004. Daryl grow up Woodstock and attended Tapawera Area School. In Daryl's last year of school he won a Scholarship for Nelson Polytech, which he has used towards his Automotive Apprenticeship he commenced in 2005.

Daryl has a strong interest in motor vehicles and is always improving his own vehicles. Daryl had an early introduction to vehicles, as his father is a qualified technician.
